Timeline Of 40K Battles

As I have too much time on my hands and I thought it might be fun I have gone through the blog, collated all mentions of games of a 40K nature and wrote a timeline of my battles. Like my own Codex type entry. Where there is one, a link in the title for more info.

Chaos Attack on Gamultum Tertious;

Igsamel Procratitor
Fenzor Crutt

small force of chaos cultists led by demagogue Fenzor Crutt are beaten back by a
 garrison of Imperial Guardsmen on the sleepy backwater of Gamultum Tertious. Captain Igsamel Procratitor defeats the cultists and never again sees active duty. Fenzor Crutt escapes and is thought to have left the planet to foment rebellion elsewhere.

On the planet of Necromunda, Idolatror Jobes, a seedy soldier of fortune and acquirer of mystical artefacts leads a small group consisting of the dregs of humanity on a raid to grab valuable Imperial data from a broken down sump floater. A fierce skirmish ensues against Imperial Guardsmen and Jobes succeeds in his robbery. He is placed on the Proscribed List and has a large bounty placed on his head.

On the Imperial planet of Necromunda; an  Inquisition cell led by Jenna Pursuivant battles Squat Void Pirates in the vicinity of Lower Skunkton hive Primus. Plans for some highly advanced alien tech was gathered and the mystery of why it was there leads to further investigation. A Jokaero Wyrd is captured and sent to a holding facility for indoctrination.

Operation Duck & Weave;
Still searching for clues regarding the alien weapon technology the warband of Jenna Pursuivant is attacked by members of a Nobilist House on a 'big game safari'. The Emperor protected His servants and the debauched nobles are routed. The origins of the plans are still no clearer.

Catch The Genestealer;
On the planet Nora in the Seldom system Jenna's Jokers come into contact with a large band of mutants and the Ambull Hunters  (the Nobilist safari) simultaneously. An immature genestealer is captured by the mutants and the ensuing battle sees two of the Jokers dead. It is unknown what became of the mutants and the xenos.

Raiding Slazenger's Warehouse;
Returning to Hive Primus after a tip off the Jokers attack the Ambull Hunters in a third party's warehouse. During the skirmish members of the cell removed 'evidence' from the warehouse but the Nobles prevailed over the Inquisition. Tefal the sanctioned Psyker takes a severe head trauma that now leaves him shell shocked. A bout of electro-therapy is prescribed by the teams amateur medic.

Twelve Go Wild In The Badlands;

Somewhere out in the wasteland under Hive Primus The Venerable Family Of Father Olifarch are ambushed by The Robbers Militant, a band of mercenaries. The aliens are defeated by the mercs and their ambitions in the area are curtailed. The death of a neophyte and several debilitating injuries create severe supply issues and a slight weakening in Semper Excreedius infallibility within the group.

Xenos Incompetence;
In an act of revenge, The Venerable Family Of Father Olifarch attack The Robbers Militant whilst they are guarding valuables for one of the major trading houses uphive. Due to poorly maintained weaponry and low ammunition stocks the Genestealers are beaten back. In a true act of devotion to his fellow squad members Elden (a ratling in the employ of the Robbers Militant)shoots a comrade off a gantry rather than let him be infected with Genestealer DNA. Another attempt at controlling the underhive is thwarted.

A Very Wyrd Grudge Match;

Pulling a  truly machiavellian stroke the Genestealer Magus sets up a Chaos Cult known as The Broken Wheel by tipping off Jenna's Jokers. The Inquisition Cell shatter the cult and obtain an alien orb of unknown properties. Acolyte Buxom is truly blessed by the Emperor during the engagement as she is assaulted by a foul witch with a burning body only to emerge unscathed and the witch loaded into an anti psyker cell ready for transport onto the next Black Ship that docks on Necromunda. The Family Olifarch's grip on the Underhive strengthens.

Excreedius' Bad Head Day;

While the Jokers were attacking the Broken Wheel the Genestealers attempt to spread their genes through infecting the crew of a Rogue Trader crew. This was largely unsuccessful as a youth managed to defeat the Magus in mental combat forcing them to retreat. On reflection Excreedius realises the adolescent had latent pariah genes that thwarted him. He vows to one day track down and execute the human named Emmie. A janitor spy was given the task of reporting the next time the Folkvangr arrived on the planet.

The Fun Run (not for charity);

The orb retrieved from the Broken Wheel Cult was determined to be a transmitting device it's origins from the planet Bluescreen in the Glare system. The Jokers arrive at Silaris Prime to obtain surveillance equipment only to become embroiled in a 'scavhunt' for said items. the other interested party 'The Greater Profit' an alien trader crew win the hunt and make off with the loot. Illegal Psionics were believed to be the cause of the Inquisition defeat.

The Great Rogue Trader Swindle;

The Moonkillers - an Eldar corsair band attack the crew of the Folkvangr defeating them. In the confusion an Eldar pirate is captured and ransomed back to the Moonkillers, they are paroled to never again perform a hostile act on the Rogue Trader crew for the equivalent of  37 Terran years. Honourbound to leave them unmolested the Moonkillers leave for pastures new.

Raiders Of The Lost Monolith;

On the Imperial planet of Scargill a Necron Monolith is exposed following seismicactivity. An Inquisitorial team is sent in to plunder/destroy said object. matters are further complicated by awakening Necrons and rival treasure hunters. The Monolith is plundered but not destroyed. A defensive cordon is placed around it and the Monolith remains dormant, for now.

The Search For Shpock;

In Necromunda's Hive Septus a the Venerable Family of Father Olifarch attempts to abduct two personalities to increase the influence within the hive. Hitherto unknown warriors attempt to thwart the plan, leaving Hive Septus safe for a while longer at least. Murmurs of the Patriarch's disfavour start to filter down from on high. Perhaps Excreedius' days are numbered?

On the Imperial planet of Trotskigrad chaos cultists aided by Alpha Legion traitormarines attempt to overthrow the planetary government, a rival genestealer cult unwilling to allow this defeat the cultists in a pitched battle in the planets capital city Guevarraville. In the political vacuum created many Genestealer agents are installed in high ranking positions strengthening the cult.

Inquisimunda Tourism;

The Family Of The Hidden Path (a Tzeentchian cult) attempt to defile the Thumb Of The Emperor while it is on display. Jenna's Jokers attempt to stop them. The Thumb is later relocated to another Imperial planet in an bid to stop this sort of thing.

The Wrath Of Pat;

A routine entrapment mission featuring a bait car (Imperial Rhino) goes sour when alien mercenaries and chaos cultists both attempt to steal from the vehicle. Ranged against them are an Inquisitor Cell intent on bringing the Emperor's justice to all.

A Very Bloody Rescue Mission;

The Inquisition Cell captures a human member of a group of alien mercenaries. Said aliens attempt to rescue the human and the ensuing bloodbath means Imperial Medibots and Xenos Multihealers are very busy repairing the damage afterwards.

Two Xenos Invasions In one Evening;

The Krablokistan 47th Astra Militarum regiment attempt to fend off two small scale alien invasions in a single nocturnal cycle of Killa La Neck in the Cyavuunh system. First Tau then Tyranids feel the sting of lasgun infantry and other less gentle Imperial weaponry. Both invasion attempts are thwarted and Imperial Xenobiologists postulate that one of the forces was a vassal of the other.

The Battle Of Lernin Kerv;

Another planet in the Cyavuunh system - Lernin Kerv is invaded by another tendril of Hive Fleet Stuart. Parts of the Krablokistan 47th are redeployed to end the threat and reinforce the garrison there. A large battle ends in defeat for the Astra Militarum but due to the Hive Tyrant's death the Tyranids fail to overwhelm the survivors. A long term campaign of attrition ensues.

Clerical Errors In The 41st Millenium;

On the Imperial Agri-world of Hemmerdale the Krablokistan 47th (or at least another part of it) led by Farg Woolstrop is attacked by a force of Adeptus Sorritas commonly known as the Convent Of The Vengeful Scold. The cause of the conflict is later discovered to be two identical sets of orders that two allied forces advance on the same hamlet engaging any hostiles. Saint Celestine was also on the planet and her direct intervention is thought to be deciding factor in the engagement. During the skirmish Farg Woolstrop gets the impression the Sisters Of Battle were concentrating on (sub)Commander Bolshoy Bartlet. Ratling corporal Mucky Sweetcarrot was initially captured by the Sorritas force but escaped incarceration . Co-incidentally, eight members of the detention staff were transferred to Repentia squads and made to complete abhuman aversion therapy treatment.

The Krablokistan 47th Strikes Again!
Commander Woolstrop's army meets a Tau force from the Pur'la Sept outside a small village known as Middling on planet Hemmerdale. A bloody battle ensues with the defeat of the aliens. Bolshoy Bartlet the (sub)Commander is severely reprimanded for showing a lack of 'gumption' and for issuing 'conflictorial' orders. Of particular note was one trooper Kanto Ballofsky, whom showed particular bravery by destroying a Tau Crisis suit as it charged him. Ballofsky has not been seen since the battle but it is assumed he is still fighting the enemies of mankind with his trusty meltagun.

While still stationed on Hemmerdale the 47th is attacked by a force of Ultramarines led by Rouboute Gullimann himself. Also present is Marneus Calgar. The Astartes defeat the Astra Militarum and immediately retreat once (sub)Commander Bolshoy Bartlet is removed as a casualty. This surprising action leads Commander Woolstrop to speculate that his second in command had been targeted by three separate forces with the intention of intelligence gathering. Bartlet is believed to be a high ranked espionage agent masquerading as a military employee.

Chaos Vs Ultrablokistanmarines;

In a bizarre twist, Gullimann appears to have forgotten all about his previous attempt to destroy the 47th and requests they reinforce his command against rebels allied with followers of chaos. The Imperial forces were defeated by the rebels due to the two allied commands different tactical outlooks. Gullimann wasn't overly eager to throw away his troops whereas Woolstrop (as ever) was only to happy to do so. The victorious Chaos army then departs Hemmerdale, leaving the bemused rebels to the full retribution of the Imperium.

Heresey Of The Highest Order!

The Krablokistan 47th meets up with aspects of the 420th Suhnidayhal Shithawks led by what seems to be a highly intoxicated Ursakar Creed. The battle is unusual as Rouboute Gullimann joins forces with Tau from the Pur'la Sept to control the artifact known as 'The Thumb Of The Emperor'. Due to the sudden onset of the ferocious Hemmerdale night, both forces withdraw only after Rouboute Gulliman is apparently killed. Private Sol Gussett is credited with a kill shot to a Tau Devilfish, earning him a medal for bravery. He spent his remaining career giving motivational talks to conscripts and his lasgun "Molly", is now a popular attraction in the Granada Historical Museaum of Imperial Valour.

The Battle Of Sugden; A Tale Of Two Bombardments.

The unholy alliance of Ultramarines and Tau continues and the Krablokistan 47th ally with Astartes from The Crimson Fists chapter. as the Ultramarine contingent contains Rouboute Gullimann rumours abound that it is in fact some sort of robot controlled by the Tau and the Ultramarines following it are gullible patsies. The Astra Militarum and Crimson Fists defeat the enemy narrowly and the mystery around Gullimann deepens. Corporal Bucket Goosebutter of the auxiliary ratling unit gains the impressive honour of being the first abhuman to survive a battle under Woolstrop's command.

Eldar Battle Death Guard

Twice in succession patrols from Craftworld Ulthwe defeat Death Guard heretic marines intent on mayhem. Casualties are severe but both times the followers of the ruinous powers are sent packing.

Eldar Attack (so do the Tau)!

On the planet of Gabbrodon Theta, Tau from the Pur'La Sept are assisted by Ulthwe against Ultramarine and Crimson Fist aggression. Farseer Gelladrill assists the Tau in an attempt to provoke an overwhelming retaliation from the Astartes and therefore redirecting Imperial aggression away from a valuable Maiden World. The mission is a success as the Astartes are defeated and the Eldar leave via the nearest webway terminal. What happens to the Tau is unknown.

Baptism Of Prometheum

On the Imperial research outpost Spasitor the Orks of Waargh Gitsmasha and a force of Astra Militarum meet. Led by Farg Woolstrop the soldiers of the imperium's orders are clear, wipe the Orks out and reclaim the outpost. After a vicious battle that left the Ork forces victorious, the Orks 'scarper' before more imperial reinforcements arrive. Farg Woolstrop is severely injured during the battle and is put in a healing vat until his horrifically burned body is repaired. Gilprect Von Staab is now acting commander of the Krablokistan 47th.

Big Mek Throzbog's Thermonuclear Morkanaut

As the Ork encroachment of Scargill Sector continues a swift attack on an Imperial surveillance asteroid. Warboss Bluddakka leads the attack but the most notable event of the attack is the destruction of the Morkanaut. Big Mek Throzbog had used a power cell from a looted Necron planet that exploded destroying most of the Imperial force and Warboss Bluddakka. Throzbog takes over the battle group and returns to the main Waargh vowing to steal more 'Nekron stuff' from Scargill and create more explosive Morkanauts.

Foule Ole Gron And Weak Eldar Stomachs
On the Imperial planet of Triumphant Fanfare, Daemon Prince Festerpuke aided by his hideous second in command Foule Ole Gron attempt a violent coup aided by Nurgle cultists. Having disposed of the PDF forces, the timely arrival of Aeldari of Ulthwe craftworld prevent the utter destruction of the planet's populace. The followers of Nurgle are narrowly defeated by the Aeldari at great cost. Both Festerpuke and Foule Ole Gron escape the battle and plot their revenge on Ulthwe.

A Short Battle Report (that is actually quite long)
The machinations of Ulthwe divert a portion of Waargh Gitsmasha (sub)Waargh Tonkwappa away from Scargill to a small isolated planet called Skorlax. A successful strike by Ulthwe draws the entire Ork force onto Skorlax. The Aeldari plan is not to destroy the Orks but to keep a sizable force to battle a foe that will soon arrive on Skorlax, the Orks are merely unwitting dupes in the plan.

Battle Of The Lords Of War
A weakening of the veil between warpspace and reality manifested itself on the Imperial planet of Polaxtor whilst a force of Ultramarines under Rouboute Gullimann and an Astra Militarum army from Catachan were resupplying. Mortarion led Death Guard and daemons of Nurgle to despoil the planet but were intercepted by the Imperial army. A fierce battle was fought and the followers of the ruinous powers were annihilated and Mortarion returned to the warp. A baneblade known as Doom of Heretics was pivotal to the victory.

A Disagreement With The Death Guard
The Vectorium of the Gurgling Soulpox; a Death Guard raiding force attack the settlement of Colebuck on the imperial planet Scargill. Members of the PDF led by Balto Krudditch are swiftly deployed to the area. A bloody battle is fought where Sivar Rotlung is killed by massed infantry fire. The kill could not be confirmed as no enemy corpses were examined, just burnt with promethium. The Death Guard retreat after the battle ends in a stalemate.

The Court of The Yellow King Awakens
Shortly after the Death Guard attack an envoy of Lord Grimdarhk the Somnolent declares an ultimatum - all humans on the planet to evacuate within an hour or suffer extermination. Balto Krudditch with his newly reinforced PDF engage the Necron force. After a fierce battle the Necrons are routed and peace once again reigns in Scousehatton. The entire region of Gremthorpe is put on high alert and the planetary governor Thatcher Magz increases recruitment quotas.

The Battle For World's End
Once again Balto Krudditch's force and called upon and are deployed into Grimbling Crevasse to engage an invasion force of Tau from the Pur'la Sept. The main attack was focused around the tavern known as The World's End. Imperial troops fought determinedly to capture the tavern in vicious hand to hand combat. Once the enemy commander is killed by ratling snipers the attack loses focus and the Tau are forced to retreat. Close friend and drinking buddy of Balto Krudditch; Revs Cantalope loses both legs when his Leman Russ is destroyed. Cantalope is awarded a new set of legs and Krudditch gains the title 'Defender of Grimbling Crevasse'. The title bestows no financial compensation.

A Hemlock Came Travelling
Tau from the Pur'La sept are attempting to establish a beachhead on Scargill. To increase the number of military assets in the area to meet the threat of Waargh! Gitsmasha, craftworld Ulthwe launch an attack on the Tau using Aeldari  Corsair group the Moonkillers. The Tau are soundly defeated and key leaders are allowed to escape to ensure further reinforcements. To further assure continued Tau aggression during the battle the Hemlock Wraithfighter had been psychically attuned to the Tau brainwaves to cause unreasoning desire for vengeance and bloodshed in the survivors of the battle.   The Aeldari leave Scargill without the Imperial forces even becoming aware of their presence.

The Second Battle of Lernin Kerv

Polke Maltroc acting overall commander for the Krablokistan 47th on Lernin Kerv leads his forces to a morale boosting victory over a large cluster of Tyranid organisms on the outskirts of the settlement Lernin Kerv Beta. The 47th acquit themselves well and of particular note is the veteran squad C under sergeant Jarx who killed what was thought to be the enemy commander in hand to hand combat. Subsequently transferred to penal battalion for "over exuberance in following orders" the squad continue to be a great asset for the Emperor.

Aeldari from the Biel Tan craftworld are engaged by the Scargill Planetary Defence Force in the industrial town of Stoop. The motives of the aliens were unclear but a stoic defense meant the xenos of Biel Tan left with far fewer of their number than they came with. One possible reason for the attack was to neutralise Primaris Psyker Vim Ajax, once he was taken down the Aeldari seemed satisfied to leave the battlefield. The remains of the Scargill PDF fortify the area in case of further attacks but the Aeldari seem to have left the planet barely leaving any of their technology or casualties for Imperial examination. The reason for several hostile incursions from differing xenos races remains a worrying source of conjecture from the Scargill population.

The Deliverance Of Skorlax
Following Ulthwe's machinations causing the entirety of (sub)Waaargh Tonkwappa to drop onto Skorlax's surface a large host of genestealers emerge from the mines to engage them. After a brutal conflict, the Orks are defeated but the cult is reduced to barely a tenth of it's size. All the cult's Purestrains and Patriarch are slain. The cults expansionist plan is now thwarted and it must now wait to gain power once more. During the days that follow the battle one of the cults females gives birth to a purestrain whelp, it may taketime but the cult has hope for a brighter future overthrowing the oppressors of the Imperium.

The Food Riot Ambush
A garrison force of stranded Blood Angels on Dy Celiac IV are attacked by insurgents containing a large number of Genestealers. The original peaceful demonstration quickly degenerates into a pitched battle. The Blood Angels led by Brother Captain Prophylactic are defeated by the rebels vast knowledge of the sewer networks allowing them to outmaneuver the Imperial force. Instrumental to the victory was the Patriarch whose mental attacks hampered the Astartes.

Following their defeat the Blood Angels regrouped in their defensive fortress. As the civil
unrest grows a huge crowd of protesters advance on the building. This is merely a diversionary ruse as the Cult's sappers detonate seismic mines in the lower courtyard to gain entry. A savage battle is fought and the entire force of Blood Angels are wiped out bar a three man Eliminator Squad. The planet is pretty much controlled by the cult and Patriarch Gestalethebes decides to put his feet up for a while and relax in the knowledge that nothing can go wrong.

On the desert planet of Blaan, a large contingent of Orks find themselves attacked by a Genestealer Cult after soundly defeating the local Planetary Defence Force. Patriarch Parachoix leads his brood to victory and using his mental powers alone destroys the enemies Morkanaut. The surviving Orks retreat but eventually leave the planet to 'da bug eyez' as they find them particularly creepy. Enough members of the cult were killed to curtail the day of ascension by several decades.

Malarkey on Lernin Kerv

In an attempt to weaken Hive Fleet Stuart, Aeldari from Ulthwe craftworld attack a concentrated group of Tyranid synapse creatures to  enable Imperial forces to regroup. Phoenix Lord Asurmen joins the attack. Many Tyranid monsters were slain at great cost, even Asurmen. Old One Eye is also slain in the battle. The whole area is scoured of synapse beasts and lower Tyranid organisms revert to instinctive behaviour until new node creatures are created. This lull in the fighting allows beleagueredAstra Militarum forces to dig in until a large Imperial fleet relieve them.
