2025 Reinforcements

Happy New Year! Just a quick update to show some models I finished last year but because of reasons I only got to put them up now. It's another ecclectic mix of gubbins but at least some of it will see table time this year, I promise.

Multicultural Weapons Team

Last year I finished a couple of weapons teams for the Astra Miltarum, here is the final member of team Shoot 'em up. Most notable thing about this team is it contains a Cadian and a Tallarn. Truly proof that the Guard is one big happy, xenos hating family.

Ready to put large calibre but nontheless not very armour piercing munitions into the enemy.

Wannabee Commissar

This Valhallan lieutenant has been painted up as a Commissar with slightly questionable tastes in a uniform. Perhaps he is from a world where ludicrous hats are a thing, or perhaps he comes from Miliner 8 a planet where everyone makes the most of customising their head gear. Perhaps he is just wearing it for a dare. Only he, and by extension, me, knows.
Braggs Vanglore Commissar Extrodinaire!

Ursakar Creed

I can now confirm Ursakar Creed did not actually die at the fall of Cadia, he simple scarpered. With the new Astra Militarum book round the corner he may see some table time as his own daughter, some sort of Oedepus Syndrome in reverse.

Creed shows everyone his thousand yard stare.

Next are two Cadians that missed last muster and have shown up pretending they were here all along. Not much to say about them but they probably went AWOL with Creed on the last shuttle leaving Cadia dressed as orphans.

Privates Shufty and Koggs.

Redemptionist Zealot

This chap is going to join an Inquisitorial Henchmen group as an Eviscerator is just what is required to uncover the truth about whatever Inquisitor is looking into at any specific time. He can also hang out with his other Redemptionist mates if he is ever back on Necromunda, with a hankering for burning heretics. Fun times.

Slobberchops the Mangler

The Problem With Humanity These Days

Is mutants. The one below is a couple of AdMech bits grafted to a Skaven Clansman (or Slave). He is armed with some sort of Radium weapon and a big engorged throat. He will probably feature in a battle whenever I get my Chaos Cultist Army's shit together.

Goiters Malone

The Cops

Finished this month as well is my Adeptus Arbites squad. Cracking models, but I'm hoping to create some improbable occurances where they arrest Chaos Primarchs or an Avatar of Khaine. Or even the Silent King, I'm easy.
Ready to restrain criminals with extreme prejudice and minor glee.

Shotpistol, Webber and Grenade Launcher dudes.

Gimp, Buffalo Bill and Sniper.

One Proctor and his Cyber Hound

So there you have it, the Imperium has been reinforced, and the enemies of mankind will quake with terror at the sight of these heroes. Or something,

Thanks for reading.

Don't Give Up Your Day Job

Salutations one and all. It's that time of the year when I put some pictures up of what I have been messing about with hobbywise, and this update is pretty diverse. So what have I been up to? Read on.....

Aeldari Stabber

With the sort of imminent publication of the Codex Craftworlds I made a little effort to complete a model that has been lurking round nearly done for some months. As the codex is supposed to contained rules for Ynnari as well, this guy has been drafted in to complete a unit of Witches. The remains of a Wild Rider trumpet lays at his feet meaning a) he has arrived to avenge some bumpkin Aeldari massacre, or b) he has just been converting some Exodite Aeldari on the benefits of the god of the dead, or c) he has taken exception to some Aeldari trumpeteer. In any case he is varnished up ready for action.

Ulthwe's finest.

Inquisitor Jao

Next is an Inquisitor in Terminator armour. Armed with some sort of super spook canon and a power/force axe he can spread the good news that all aliens species are surplus to requirements in the galaxy. I've been looking forward to playing a few games featuring the Inquisition using Astra Militarum to give someone a kicking so now I have him done I think I can play some nicely themed games.

Inquisitor Jao, he looks a bit like the geezer on the front of the Inquisitor novel.

Some Alien Whip Technician

I can't remember where I got this model (eBay probably) but I really like it. As far as I'm aware it's a hobgoblin from the early nineties. Very Oldhammer. Of course I put him on a round base so he's not going to be doing much Oldhammering. He's also turquoise, not a very hobgoblin shade. I'm going to use him as part of my Drukhari army as party of the Archon's retinue, probably counting as a Ur Ghul.

Halitosis the Whipmaster.

Stinky Pete

Here's something odd, a model on a square base. One of my favourite models from my Warhammer Fantasy Battle days. A Nurgle sorcerer. Probably not going to see much action in a chaos army, but might lurk in some rebel force as the nemesis of the Inquisition.

I left the cock and balls emblem on his head as subtle as I could.

Stranger Things

Some time back I decided to create some mutants for Necromunda mainly but also if I made enough and entire 40K army. This was pretty ambitious and unrealistic but some of those eight or more year old conversions have finally born fruit (admittedly freaky fruit, but fruit nonetheless). So first is a mutant with a huge head and upper body with a more conventionally sized lower half. He could also pass for a carnival goer if ever I play a James Bond verses some evil henchmen in the Mardi Gras type game. Of course with this guy the easiest way to defeat him is to trip him up. once on his back I'd imagine a 15 minute time period would allow ample time to escape this top heavy brute.  He is made from the legs of a plastic Goliath model, two ogre arms and quite a bit of milliput and greenstuff. I also used my tentacle maker to give him neck horns.

This guy has a killer headbutt

Subject #4594 was the outcome of a series of experiments to create an antidote for Spiker venom. As far as Ad-Mech genomancers can be, they are very pleased with the result. He is considered quite a success, inasmuch as he didn't fully metamorphosis into a Spiker plant. He has definitely taken on  some definitely Spiker type characteristics (able to fool humanoid detection devices and the ability to pass through death world plant infested areas unscathed). This chap is made from the legs of an old Bloodbowl human with the remainder comprising of a bit of a goliath arm, some greenstuff and more tenatcles from the aforementioned tentacle maker. I may use him as a Plant Liberation Organisation freedom fighter or a practitioner of human plant relations.

Planty McPlantface

The last of my trio of weird as fuck mutant models is Dennis. In the Rogue Trader book there is a mutation called hopper. Basically having one leg. It reduced movement by 1" but other than that not really life changing except for having to wear kilts and sarongs a lot. For those interested the top half of a chaos centaur was given an Orlock autopistol arm and a massive milliput foot. In my defence this model was constructed well over 5 years ago, and I like to think I would make a much more elegant leg next time round. This guy will  be seeking employment in any renegade army that will have him and maybe as a cautionary tale on footwear  billboards around the Imperium. If the first mutants weakness is getting tripped up. this one has the opposite issue.

Dennis the Hopper

Odd Alien Spear Holder Guy

Lastly is my Blind Beggar Miniatures model. I have backed a few of their kickstarters and this came as a freebie in one of them. I thought it might work as some kind of alien merc in a frontier world scenario where being an alien isn't a death sentence. Of course the model could also be a human with an elaborate helmet, so not as likely to be killed. Although frontier worlds are notoriously dangerous so there could be a crime of 'wearing a helmet in a built up area'. The punishment is obviously death. A bodyguard type job is also very likely for him. In any case some contrast paints, metallics and inks got the job done.

"Careful, you could have someone's eye out with that".

So that's all folks, until my next update, hobby responsibly, wear protection where necessary and try not to fall for any conspiracy theory pranks.

Thanks for reading.

Mutant Protesters & Assorted Underhive Scum

Some More Progress!

I'm back with some freshly painted models for viewing! Some have been lurking about from  before this blogs inception (and even predate this millinium) and others are more recent additions to the Continental Drift Painting fold. As an experiment, I painted up my Necromunda bulkheads and placed a piece of lino to make the background a bit prettier, but you can be the judge of whether I managed to pull it off!

Mutant Civil Rights Protestor

As it is fitting with the UK general election going on at the moment I have luckily finished my mutant protester. A three eyed, semi scaled critter that will probably be more of a bystander than an actual combatant. Still the banner can count as a club, and I'm sure it's not too big a stretch to assume he has a side arm hidden away somewhere in the flea ridden pile of moldy rags that count for his out fit. For those interested, it's an old skaven plague monk body with Saurus arms and a scratch built face.

Mutants, Pokemon & The Cat In The Wizard's Hat

Happy New Year!

In my week and a half Xmas *holliers I managed to finish some of my models. As is customary for me they have nothing really to do with what I'm playing at the moment. Any of my small group of blog followers may know I've been playing Kings Of War, so all the models I've finished are nothing to do with it. Anyway here's some pictures;

First up is a Shaolin monk from Iron Mammoth Miniatures. I painted him up as **masseuse for my human Bloodbowl team. He can also be an interesting npc for Inquisimunda type games and has enough of a weird scale to make a convincing alien too.

Shao Lynn

Next is my Oldskool citadel Astropath. Again Rogue Trader/Inquisimunda or even a member of my Imperial Guard army. A Wyrd in Necromunda is also probable so there are plenty of opportunities for him to get some table time.

Astro Path

Below is one of those models that I purchased from ebay with a lot of other ***Bitz. It is a small cat with a party hat,  and a large novelty birthday badge. I started to paint it up for a brief flirtation with Warhammer Quest a while ago and have just finished it. The hat is painted up with astrological phenomena to give the impression of a wizard who cast one too many transmutation spells and is now permanently a pussy. He waits in a dungeon licking himself until he is be rescued by some brave adventurers. He can also be a planetary governor's best friend that in Inquismundial world has to be rescued from rabid animal rights terrorists.

Bizarro the Cat

Next is an old Necromunda Beastmaster Wyrd that I obtained from the aforementioned Bitz on ebay. He was missing his left arm from the elbow and had been divested of his stub gun. Some greenstuff and a weapons upgrade and he can be any one of a dozen npc types in a game with the considerable punch of a plasma pistol to fry people with.

Nearly Naked Jeb

An old Skaven Rat Ogre with a plastic Ogre head are the main components of my big guy with a Goliath shotgun. I have painted the fur to slightly resemble wool instead of fur to give the impression of a highly muscular dude in a woolen onesie. The fact that he wears a necklace of ears which are actually bigger than his makes me wonder what poor misfortunates with large lugholes got scragged by him just for being over endowed in the aural department.

Big Mutant Guy
The next six models are all ex-skaven with a little doctoring. Some head swaps and greenstuffing have made me some scavvyesque thugs ready to do horrible things to innocent people.

Arran Jumper Thugs
The next four are all skaven warpfire thrower loaders re-headed to make Necromunda pack slaves or just general downtrodden proles from the 41st millenium. again the obligatory Arran jumpers with MaxMini evil heads.

Half Blind Pete & Zombie Chuck

Smug Grin & Elephant Man

Lastly are my first finished Infinity models. I saw the game got caught up in the excitement and decided that Tohaa were the army I wanted to collect, the main reason I think were the terms Viral weaponry and Swarm grenades. Then came a 10 month lack of interest until I discovered the Tohaa could use these little critters in a variety of interesting ways such as bombs, hacking devices and ****fire blankets. These models are actually more equipment markers so technically I don't have any Tohaa combatants painted yet. These also can double as exotic alien pets being illegally transported across the post apocalyptic wastes Smokey & The Bandit style.

POKEMON!
So there you have it all painted up last December but only posted this year. Hopefully I can get some more finished in the none to distant future.

Thanks for reading.

* Dubliner speak for holiday.
** I envisage the chairman of the team has gone for the creepy-but-cheap type masseuse rather than the attractive-but-expensive brand.
*** Ebay code for stuff with it's heads cut off.
**** Quite a important piece of kit from a Tohaa point of view.

The Slag Valley Bullett, Necromunda Journalism.

The Invention of The Printing Press

I have a dirty little secret. Well, not really a secret just a less frequented blog really. My other blog is a pseudo newspaper based on the goings on in a settlement called Slag Valley in Hive Primus on the Imperial planet of Necromunda. The paper's name is The Slag Valley Bullett (formerly Star). It began over 20 years ago when Necromunda first came out and a good buddy of mine called Dave was the editor (Dave was the only person I knew who had a pc that had publishing capabilites). The first issue looked like this:

ISSUE #1
It described some of the events in our Necromunda campaign that had us battling regularly for dominance around Slag Valley, Fornication Gulch and the outlying settlements. Sadly only two issues were made but I kept hard copies of them and hoped one day I would have the means to resurrect the publication. The relative cheapness of scanners meant all I needed was a outlet to get it seen. Fast forward about 15 years and I have a pc, a printer, an account on Blogger and some spare time. The result was this:

The Modern Era

ISSUE #3 OR #1 YOU CHOOSE!
This issue reported on a Necromunda game, a 40K skirmish and my attempts to model underhive creepy crawlies to chew up the unfortunate gangers that inhabit the underhive. Microsoft Works allowed me to make a good stab at proper newsletter and writing the thing is a bit of a laugh too. I found that the paper gave me ideas for things to (hopefully) occur within the game and eyewitnesses gave me inspiration for modelling projects and terrain pieces. Then within the last two years I actually started gaming on a fortnightly basis. This was mainly Warhammer with a few other specialist games. A Necromunda campaign was started but didn't last overly long as the new Wood Elf book came out. Meanwhile another issue was published:

ISSUE #3, #5 OR SOME OTHER DIGIT
This described the campaign as it was going on and had some amusing anecdotes. A change of pc meant Microsoft Office (I think I prefer Works) and another format change. Games were played, and articles created. One of my favourite parts was the character of my gang leader - Headcrusher of The Sons Of Slagarchy - he was always there to give a quote to any reporter willing to listen. Through him, insults could be given without affecting the facade of impartiality that my publication has. A couple of proffesional underhive eyewitnesses are being created at the moment - Gubble Hantz - prospector, Purgative Jessop - delivery man as well as Jessop's sump mule - Bessie. Also, other characters to give accounts such diverse inhabitants as Ole Hairy Jeb - crazed retired miner, Legless O' Shockaknossey - semi crippled security guard and Madame Fung - entrepreneur and masseuse.

Heretic!

Lately we've played a few games of Infinity (excellent game) and Bloodbowl (also excellent). Incorporating both into the Bullett was easy enough - as Infinity is a special ops type game, I referred to the goings on as industrial espionage uphive - and Bloodbowl just went in there reported upon by Dag Uterous  newly created sports editor. For the fluff purists, what I have done is heresy, but then there is an awful lot of it about in the 41st millennium!

Issue #7

The Staff

I'm also having fun naming my reporters. Aurelis Charga, Cuckold Stranglethorpe IV, Polac Greis : business editor, Dag Uterous; Sports Editor, Bespoke Kitchens, Pastor Pyranium Devout, Ricco Chunk, Ludley StangeCrippet Toe, Chagg Munsk, Skotk Jagerbloom, and Spatch Puberty are all contributing to the Bullett. I seem to have enough reporters now that I can send them out as a gang in their own right! I'm planning to make models for some of (if not all) these journalists to make objectives/hostages for future games.

It's a bumper 2 page pamphlet!

For The Future

I've started getting into Inquisimunda (a Necromunda skirmish type game that represents small groups of Inquisitors, their retinues, bad guys and dice rolling. This will definitely mean more underhive  shenanigans but at the same time not totally on the planet of Necromunda. I also have a hankering to play 40K once more and more often than not, large battles don't sit well, fluffwise in Hive Primus. So I came up with a solution. As mentioned is issue #7 The Bullett is being syndicated by media moghul Gholam Jhites which means the Slag Valley Bullett may be absorbed into a new publication - The Imperial Chronicle - a galaxy wide journal of the events that shape the Imperium! This enables the reporting of information from every corner of the galaxy! So if I fancy doing an issue of Rjinn's World Agricultural Journal I can, or if the Catachan Botanical Monthly have a few interesting articles they will get some publicity too. So for all you bloggers out there why not try some real life (not real life) journalism to enhance your gaming experience?

Thanks for reading, and until next time stay frosty!

In the Grim Darkness of the Far Future - The Are No Chiropodists!

Shenanigans with a Dremel, Some Glue and Green Stuff

iTunes is playing Queens Of The Stone Age for me and I'm going to show you what I'm neglecting my adult duties with this week. A while ago I purchased a bag of assorted chopped up models that I thought I could salvage and make new preciouses with. The first contender for lead favourite of the month is an escapee from that very bag! An old Necromunda beastmaster had been victim of Sharia Law as his left arm had been removed as well as his stub gun. A pretty harmless bearded geezer. I gave him a plasma pistol, a green stuff forearm and an old plastic beaky marine's hand. Hey Presto! A valued member of the underhive once again. Put a bit of paint on him and he can be any one of a dozen not-so-innocent bystanders

The Town Drunk

Ole Hairy Jeb
Next up is a skaven slave  with a Max Mini Ash Junker head wearing goggles and two clawed hands,a bit like lobster boy in American Horror Story (Freak Show). I would like to think of him as a Delaque gone all mutanty Of course he could be a Delaque so deep undercover that he doesn't know what side is normal anymore. Going to the trouble of purchasing a robotic tail and heavy metal hands just goes to show how committed the house is to getting information.

Sneaky Fecker

Squirty Silas

 Hairy and Very Mean

Not sure if this picture has been up on here before but here's and old Rat Ogre with a head swap, a Goliath shotgun and a necklace of ears. Hopefully he will kicking the shit out of normals in the not too distant future

Gack Facesmasher

The Three Evil Stooges

The next three models came into being when Games Workshop decided I couldn't have units of Warpfire Throwers anymore (the facists). Apparently 24 teams is a bit excessive, So I decided to lop some heads off  and make them into human/mutie pack slaves. These heads are from the Max Mini evil heads pack which I think are very characterful. I think giving them some guns strapped to their packs can give the impression of gun bearers or fighters in their own right. They can also be used as Savlar Chem Dogs for my Imperial Guard.

Semi Rotten Faced Guy

Smarmy Bloke
Of course the excessive hairiness of the models may be construed as rampant mutantism which will get them a swift edification from local Redemptionists, but then who cares about religious fundamentalists in the 41st millenium?

Weak Necked Greg

Horror Movie Guy

I once took the head off an Empire Light Acolyte to create Little Nug a diminutive gangster, and now I've decided to add to GS love to the remains. I intend to make him into a Redemptionist with an Exterminator cartridge on the sword and either another sword (with Exterminator) or an axe. The mask I started happily for me has started looking like a mask from Scream (or more likely Scary Movie) so I'll be adding hair to the back of the head soon.

Brother Cheap Laugh

40K Bunions

Last two are also Skaven models that I though would make good Scavvys or just generic bare footed bad guys. Again Max Mini heads were grafted on to ratmen It's ok, I still have hundreds of Skaven that won't be getting abused in the 41st millenium.

AK47s in the 41st Millenium don't kick
This is the other member of one of the Warpfire Thrower teams. The gun itself has quite a nice Archeotech look to it so he should fit right in scrabbling around the hive torching/polluting/irradiating the Bejasus out of other gangers
This weapon squits something out!
So these models are intended for use in either Necromunda or some other small scale Imperial skirmish game I'm toying with the idea of using these guys as the start of a new gang from the Ash Wastes, as I have plenty of vehicles to chop up and 40K up. What I didn't get to display (due to a combination of poor photography and can't be arsed going back out into the garage) is Bessie the two headed sump mule (featured in the Slag Valley Bullet #2). The extra head is attached, now she needs some baggage for Purgative Jessop - her owner - to lug around from settlement to settlement. I'm also thinking another order from Max Mini is on the cards to make a unit of Attilan Roughriders into Ash Waste Desperados.

Desert heads

Biohazard Heads

So now that I've whetted appetites expect a 4 month hiatus then some painted up Wood elves or something! No, I'm joking (hopefully). So expect some sort of update within the next couple of weeks (or sooner if I can get a kettle in my garage).

Some Freaky Shit!

I have finally finished some mutants for my ongoing mutant project, these are some of my first forays into the joys of sculpting, so they have a huge amount of time invested in them (even if it wasn't that well spent).

Cyclops

First up this mutant has ticked a few boxes on my mutations list : Cyclops, horns, hairy. He started out as an old bloodbowl orc with Necromunda Goliath arms and lashings of milliput! Giving a one eyed mutant a short ranged, fairly inaccurate pistol seemed quite fitting. I'm sure he's not able to hit a cow's arse with a banjo, let alone a sneaky Delaque hiding in a barrell of eels!

Cyclopic Hairy Horny mutant

 Obese

Games Workshop had an opinion on obesity in Rogue Trader, in that it was a mutation, not a cake addiction. Either way I'm fairly pleased how this model turned out, again bloodbowl orc legs with Goliath autopistol, with loads of rolls of fat and a scratch built head, that a mate has told me looks like a pug. Not the look I was going for, but at least it looked like something!

Fat Larry

 Huge Arm

I got a Stone Troll hand in a bits box off of ebay, hence this little beauty. Two thirds of a Goliath ganger (my favourite converting model), a Catachan lieutenant arm, troll arm and a massive play doh* head. Not show arm the lumps and extrusions at the back of his neck. They're not overly pretty. All in all I'm very happy how he came out.

Big Armed Phil

Eyestalks

This is an old Bloodbowl human, with an Orlock arm and some greenstuff (I had moved up from milliput) clothes and claws on his feet. Two bits of wire will small balls on them drilled into his eye sockets makes him convincingly tatty. He's actually carrying a lasgun, but we all know that's not allowed in Necromunda so it will have to count as an autogun with a super secret hidden magazine clip squirreled away somewhere under that festering mound of flea infested rags.
Eyestalks Mcguirk

So that is what I have been attempting to complete since 2011, so now I can get back to something started more recently. I hope.

*Not really Play Doh.

Varnish-the cum of the Devil!

Goddamn Monkey Balls!

Well the War Against My Unpainted Collection Of Figures (or W.A.M.U.C.O.F.) took a rather heavy defeat recently with a unprecedented act of sabotage which left me angrier than a member of Westboro Baptist Church when they find out some children were saved from drowning by a Catholic priest and a Rabbi. I varnished my Screaming Bell with it's customary gloss varnish, then 24 hours later I put matt varnish over it only to discover that it turned into a creamy opaque goo that made the model look like a Vermin Lord has made sweet, sweet love to it and had a happy ending all over the carriage and the poor unfortunate bell ringer! The only saving grace was I noticed this phenomena before I slapped Daemon Jizz all over the Grey Seer. So the problem now is whether I strip the whole model (it took me around 20 years to paint it first time around!) or just try to cover up the Monstrous Daemon Semen, with a very tentative lick of paint!

The rear view of the Bell of Gunk
You can just about see the bell ringers bemused expression!

On a Happier Note.....

My painted Eldar army grew by one as well this week due to one of my started 15 or more years ago but only finished now type projects to the tune of an Eldar Exarch. Funnily enough when I started painting him, Eldar Exarchs were the equivalent of a major hero costing well over a hundred points. Nowadays he is a unit champion and barely worth 20! No wonder this hobby is in a constant state of upgrading, todays 2500 point army is the 1750 skirmish force of tommorow!

An Space Elf with wings
Mutant Bitty
Bullet Dodger
Stripey Pants
Also in my finished shelf is my mutant bird legged bird and two Orlock juves, not much to say about these other than they're finished! Lead Mountain is smaller by four this week. Only another 3000 to go!
