Beldam Qud's Toxic Helpers

Greetings. Recently I finished some faux Wracks for my Drukhari army. They were started when Wracks were harder than hens teeth to get from FLGS. By the time I finished them though, I could've bought dozens. Also I wasn't in the mood to shell out €70ish to have a ten elf unit. So for those interested I will go through what bits of plastic were used to create them.

Fluff

Beldam Qud is the name of my rather ugly Haemonculus. She has fought in quite a few battles but has a tendency to wander away from her bodyguard Talos and got killed for a while. Now she has the ability in 10th to actually join a unit she might be a bit more resilient. Qud has taken an interest in a small Tarrelian colony after sending allies to the colony she requested fresh Tarrelian limbs for her experiments. She has entered into an alliance of sorts with Adraxys Molech the Archon I have been using to terrorise mortals in realspace raids.

The Help

Some time ago I inherited some High Elf archer legs that I planned to to use for various projects, then came my desire to use Wracks and a rummage around in my bits box I found the torsos of Wood Elf wild riders and sisters of the thorn. A few bits from the Talos kits made some creepy arms. So here's the sadistic cutter uppers.

On the left is wrack #1 with spiked tail, Tarrelian forearm, skeleton horse leg and distended stomach with a skin skirt, on the right is the Acothyst.

Left is wrack #2 with vestigal wings, ancient tyranid warrior arm, tarrelian leg and stolen aeldari powerfist arm, wrack #3 however is a lot less 'enhanced' with swollen foot and some minor aesthetic surgery.

Wrack #4 has by and large been left unmolested except for a multitude of eyeballs emerging from the mask and a liquifier gun, wrack #5 has a tarrelian forearm and a large syringe used for extracting and transplanting generally unsolicited liquids from it's unwilling victims.

Tarrleian leg for wrack #6 and some cronos bits, while wrack #7 is sporting an extra leg, a rather flat face mask and a liquifier gun.

Wrack #8 has been gifted an extra arm and for reasons only known to Beldam Qud all flesh has been removed up to the forearm. Another enhancement is a series of transferance tubes that extend from the chest cavity to extract flavoursome genetic matter (this one is sucking out an Asartes brain). Wrack #9 is sporting a skin sporran and some efficient murder equipment.

So here's the group shot of my wrack unit, ready for action.

So that's my hobby update and now with the data cards for the wracks I am able to add another three ranged weapons per 5 man squad. So it looks like I will have to return to my bits box to create some more monsters to frolic about on the grim battlefields of the 41st millennium.  So until then happy hobbying and try not to bring about any Armageddon type scenarios in real life.

Thanks for reading.

Four Cultists About To Bring Doom to the Imperium!

Greetings viewer. Just a quick update on some more members of the Assembly of D'Keddes my genestealer cult army. As the new 10th edition has dropped I'm trying to fill in gaps in my army, but the first two aren't gaps, just models I wanted to finish.

Neophyte Leaders

These two were constructed before GW decided to give neophyte leaders nothing in the way of options for the data cards. This is fine and dandy as I believe there will be a bit more to choose from is 2024 or 2025 but for now they can just hang around in the throng. For those interested they are on the left a human bomb from 1990's Imperial Guard and on the left is an even older confrontation miniature. Both are metal models where generic IG arms were then attached but I though a couple of new GSC arms would do the business. The bomber has an Attilan hammer in one hand and I think an Attilan gangsta posed bolt pistol. On the left we have an Attilan shotgun and hammer. Also of note is the collection of human(?) bones attached to his waist. Very grimdark. They are attired in the bland colours of D'Keddes so they won't stand out to enemy snipers that much. Or will they?

Smasher McBoom & Specs the Bone Collector.

Tarrelian Metamorphs

A while ago I made some Tarrelian/genestealer hybrids as I had a plantiful supply of never to be used Saurus. I made enough to fit the 15 being sized unit and then Cult Icons got good. So I made one and now they have a maximum of 10. Grrrrr. So now I have sixteen I think so I can make another four to make two units of ten or quite while I have the wrong number. When I was making the Icon bearer I made a buddy for him so he wouldn't be scared on the painting table with all those mean Drukhari. Anyhow that's the last ones I have constructed so it's on to other less species fluid aliens.

Blind Bill the Icon Bearer & Buddy Flamerchops.

So that's all folks for this update. Hoving into view are my virtually finished Wrack conversions that are a wee bit bizarre and (hopefully) gruesome. Until then, hobby responsibly and enjoy the wild ride that 10th edition will no doubt be!

Rich Kids of Instagram in the 41st Millennium

Seasons greetings. As we close in on 2023 I try to finish stuff to make my 2022 seem less worthless hobbywise. As a result here are some old metal models from the previous millennium. To give a bit of background on the following items, back in the mid nineties a Necromunda gang you could play were Spyrers or Spyre Hunters. Basically the wealthy noble houses sent their offspring down to kill as many worthless proles as they could, survive with only their wits and billions of credits worth of advanced weaponry and armour (which may or may not be manufactured by the T'au) and then return up to the Spyre to take their place in the family business. They were a very good gang but I never had them painted up during my time as a Necromunda player. Now I have to try to shoehorn them into a current 40K army.....

Khaine's Favourite Little Murderers

Happy nearly new year! As 2021 comes to a close, I've managed to squeeze in a few more models into the completed foyer. They've been virtually done for a lot of the year, just needed a few touch ups. Now, for the uninitiated, the following models are Incubi, and Incubi-general Drazhar. They are probably the choppiest unit in my Drukhari army and also some of the best models to boot. I've used them on numerous occasions and they really are mustard*. Once again, contrast paints were used and no animals were harmed in the painting of these miniatures**.

I'm looking forward to unleashing this chap on my Aeldari opponents in 2022, as 'There can only be one***'.

These Incubi are sporting daemonic helmets from the Maimier collection.

The Ynnari Incubi heads are extensively scarred, presumably because they don't wear helmets.

So I've decided that the best way of using Incubi are in two five elf units as there really isn't any benefit to using them in units of ten. Smaller units give you better board control and if riding a Raider you can drop of one squad and scoot to another part of the table with the other. A couple of games I had when I jumped them all out I found they were basically overqualified to defeat a ten man Intercessor squad****. What they are qualified to do, is lay some serious smackdown on any unit that has the misfortune to get in engagement range of them. With Drazhar accompanying them they become even more hideous and if I can combine them with the grisly trophies on a Raider or Venom, then they become OP***** level good. In conclusion, I predict my domination of the Cavan 40K scene for a while and nothing can stop me******! Have a Happy New Year and enjoy 2022!

Thanks for reading.

* Very tasty!
** Although I suspect Khaine doesn't approve.
*** One proper Phoenix Lord.
**** There was also one redonkulous charge phase that saw 10 Wyches, 10 Incubi and an Archon charged 10 Intercessors. It did not need so much firepower. I think 5 Incubi (the ones without helmets) just smoked some cigarettes at the back.
***** OP=overpowered, the go-to phrase in our gaming group when a new codex or supplement comes out.
****** Except a) The new GSC Codex coming out and I drop the Drukhari forthwith or, b)The new Aeldari Codex coming out and I drop the Drukhari forthwith or, c)The new Astra Militarum Codex coming out and I drop the Drukhari forthwith etc......

In the Grim Darkness of the 41st Millennium, Crows Still Need Scaring, Umbrellas Still Need To Be Manufactured

So the war against unpainted models continues, this time with some mainly non military types to try to sneak onto good honest battlefields at the expense of the professionals. So below you will find various goons to decorate my battle reports.

More Hybrids For The Revolution

The Assembly of D'Keddes gained a couple more recruits, a proper old metal Neophyte that was sculpted before GW gave any thought to intellectual property and therefore wasn't called a Neophyte, just a plain old Hybrid. As is my current want I have been tarting up some of the bases on my models, in this case the severed banner pole from my Attilan Roughrider command, this serves two purposes, firstly it gives the impression this guy has been involved in the indiscriminate murder of horses and secondly he can double up and a standard bearer in his own right. The other models is a Kelermorph, I already have an original for my army, but what could irritate my gaming group but another one? It is made of an old Necromda Delaque heavy whom I purchased on Ebay sans his heavy stubber. A root around in my bits box gave me an AdMech head and pistol plus some Hybrid hands. Voila! Another freedom fighter to protect the downtrodden masses (before they are horribly melted down in to alien soup).

"FREEDOM!"

Various Dumpster Divers

A couple of years back I bought some old metal scavengers from Moonraker miniatures who now seem to be Forlorn Hope Games. They are brilliant sculpts and absolutely drip character. In the grim darkness od the 41st Millennium they will probably be cultists - chaos and otherwise - as well as freedom fighters, pirates and other ne'erdowells. The model on the left is my all time favourite model in the range and could even get his own miniseries. I don't think I would be likely to paint these models were it not for contrast paints and inks, these sculpts have lots of very detailed bits and bobs on them making them quite a chore with these old eyes of mine. For the young 'uns though I would recommend getting some.

Recyclers of the 41st Millenium

Infinity Models

Some years ago our gaming group took a punt on Infinity by Corvus Belli, several games were played and models bought (not necessarily in that order). I plumped for Tohaa, an alien race that use pheromones and viral weaponry (nice, huh?). So soon after I got my Tohaa I discovered how much insane detail was on them an so they got sprayed white, then mothballed due to the next new shiny thing. Once again some random movement of figures made me pick some up and bring them to the painting pile. Here is the result. Not sure how much appetite within our group for infinity there is but three more models crossed off the to do list.

Even though I'm pretty sure Tohaa aren't mammals, the females seem to have some sort of distraction device fitted to the front of their alien chest area. The other two are Chaksa, a sort of slave race controlled by the Tohaa's boobies.

Two Independant Models

The models below go partly to explain why I have yet to finish an army. My mind sees something and I think I could use it for scenario x or project y . Sadly the time it takes for me to complete whatever the thing is I've bought, I get sidetracked into repeating the same process again. So below are a scarecrow (possibly TSR) that was to be used as some sort of demonic thing for WFB, or an alien surveillance device for a 40K Imperial Agriworld. Either way it may or may not adorn a field in an upcoming game. The other is a Shao Lin monk from a now defunct miniature company called Iron Mammoth Miniature. He is the last of 6 that have been gradually been painted over the last 5 years. One peculiarity of these models is their slightly longer than normal arms, that give them an alien shape changer vibe which could fit into my Rogue Trader projects.

We come in peace, possibly.

Necromunda Confontation Bods

Now that they don't seem exist anymore in Necromundan lore, I have finished a Malcadon Spyre hunter. I also put one AdMech arm and a High Elf one, on an old  Confrontation Brat ganger. Two very cool sculpts who will probably find their way onto this blog in some strange capacity that isn't 100% clear to me at the moment. Perhaps Astra Militarum wannabes or members of a Halloween Revolutionary Force, intent on a Coup D'Etat  some time in October.

So that's all I have to show you today, hopefully it will give some of you a warm nostalgic glow that may have sparked some joy. Or not.

Karen. Lucille & Barbie. Plus Scenery.

Greetings. Some more progress with regard to my little toy soldiers has been made, but none of the newly finished are soldiers, just vehicles and buildings. I just wanted to clear that up.

Tanks A Lot

My Astra Militarum got bolstered recently when I finally decided to actually finish these, er, well ladies I suppose. Meet Karen, Lucille & Barbie, three vehicles to smash the face in of the enemies of the Emperor with. Karen is the Basilisk, Lucille the Leman Russ and Barbie is the Hellhound. They have my started-four-or-five-years-ago Olive yellow drybrush with some Aggaros Dunes camo stripes. Each one has roman numeral numbers from Green Stuff World, that were glued on then painted white. Another feature of these vehicles was the naming of them. Krablokistan tradition is such that military vehicles are named and are generally female. The names are trying to be witty, Karen because she reacts explosively to criticism, Lucille because of Negan's wife/bat and Barbie because she loves to cook.

Meanwhile Somewhere In The Imperium...

Several years ago I purchased an Imperial Bastion, slapped Vallejo Yellow Olive over it and moved on to the next project, What I didn't do was fit the heavy bolters to it as I 'didn't have the time'. Now that I came across said bolters I tarted them up with Skeleton Horde and Soulstone Red and attempted to affix them to the Bastion. Several seconds of pushing took the parapets off. Never one to let a small delay snowball into a much bigger one (joke!), I decided to add some humor to the parapet area in what I thought would be good clean Astra Militarum fashion.

One thing that is very evident when studying the Bastion, enemies besieging it follow the double tap method as on each wall there seems to be many twin bullet holes. Also this Bastion has been given the numeral 104.

It can be a nerve-wracking time on guard duty so why not liven it up with noting kills.

Also the odd cry for help from above.

One of the main selling features of the CIV Bastion is the blood and offal vents that deposit remains directly to the galley for reclaimation.

A Seven Year Old Idea Comes To Pass

In March 2014 I put a page on here with ideas for new Necromunda territories, A ratburger stand. Now that idea is pretty much finished. Using bits of card pinned to foamcard to look like sidecycled building materials I have built Limpy's Diner, well it will be when he can afford tables.

Limpy's is fully equipped with some sort of internal cooking device, that gives off smoke and fumes both inside and out.

Limpy has spared no expense stealing someone else's sign to advertise his wares.

Everything all neatly posed for maxmum enjoyment.

So that's it folks, this is what I have been  spending my hobby time on this past while. On the horizon (or possibly many horizons away) is my AM Valkerie and some assorted ne'erdowells to hang around the diner causing 41st Millennium mischief. So until next time.

Wyches Ahoy!

So some more dead inside murder elves were finished, happy enough with the results: I made plenty of use of body parts from my bits box, to denote various gladiatorial contests that each of these ladies (or lads) have recently had.

Hekatrix Cutilda Corpsemaid stands on a variety of gladiatorial trophies that she herself has created.

Another Hekatrix; Morgore the Cutter carries her own Ultramarine scout round with her as some alien surfaces can scuff her silk soled booties.

40K Drukhari Crusade

Adraxys Molech waited patiently in his sanctum for his guests. A Dracon within the Kabal of the Black Heart, his lair was small by many other standards but in his mind it was temporary. His throne stood on a raised dais with his silent Incubi guards flanking him. A bell chimed and unseen lackeys opened the sentient gutwood doors giving two barely audible groans. Two lithe figures strode in with graceful moves that more than hinted at gruesome violence at a moments notice.

"You are welcome honored Succubi of the Red Grief". Molech was careful not to name either first in case the other took offence.

Both nodded, eyes constantly scanning the room for threats or challenges. One spoke up;

"You wish to enter into an alliance to gather souls from realspace?".

"Indeed, that is the reason for your invitation".

The second then spoke "Molech, you are still a minor Dracon within the Black Heart, and as such my superiors are unwilling to give extensive aid. Myself and Serpentia however, feel that after that incident with Archon Faik being trapped in torment sarcophagus indefinitely, you could be a worthwhile ally. We shall both bring our personal retinues and I can  call in a favour from the Blind Wind Reaver band and another from the Seven Clicks of Terror Hellion gang. With these we can start our endeavor". With that the two Succubi left.

Molech then called to his almost trusted lackey, "contact your spy in the Tower of Tortured Secrets; I want to find a world for a realspace raid. Make it interesting.".

April's Achievement

Just a quick post to show my progress this month. I'm a member of a forum and they have a 'Finish your stuff challenge' so here's my entry for April. I was struggling to get the camera and lighting set up adequately so apologies for the fairly poor pics.

First up are some Drukhari Wyches. Nails in combat but wearing wet tissue paper armour means they are not the most durable of troops.

Two Venom transports. When I started collecting this army, Venoms were the troops carrier of choice, now they fall far short of Raiders. Maybe when I paint up the Raiders these will be popular again. Nice models though.

This is a finecast Succubus that I acquired and had her first outing last week using the triptych whip and is a very scary combatant. Narrowly defeated by Nurgle Daemon Prince.

My next set of reinforcements for my Crusade army are these guys. Think I will give them dark lances as they scare the Bejasus out of everyone at the moment.

These are some Drukhari leftovers that will become themed objectives for my games. All credit for the construction goes to Dylan, as he is whom I got said objects from. I have one more made by him and a sixth one in the pipeline.

A Calladus Assassin for when I want to be sneaky as hell. At her feet is an old Delaque heavy's head painted to resemble a genestealer hybrid, so yes, this update does have a cultist in it (or at least a cultist's head).

Finally an old Orlock with a headswap. He also had his leg removed and the missing appendage is sitting on the second level of a tower waiting for a burst of enthusiasm to get finished. He has some greenstuff bandages and a single toe poking out of them. Not very hygienic but perhaps there are communal foot spas in the Grim Darkness of the 41st Millenium?

So there's a quick and dirty update to a) prove that COVID hasn't taken me yet, and b) add numbers to my painted figures ledger. Anyway, be safe and may your gods (or whatever) go with you.

COVID 19 Painting Club

Greets. Despite the title, no I haven't contracted the virus that no one like to talk about, merely a reference to me getting stuff painted instead of rolling dice and making others miserable with my tactical nous. As I've probably mentioned before, my painting speed and gaming ideas speed don't match at all so I assemble something, undercoat it with an intention to use it in army x or gang b any by the time I have it painted myself and much of my gaming group are playing game q. This leads to my finished model posts in no way relating to what I am currently playing. With all this in mind here comes a random collection of models;

I Am Some Law!

Back when I was a mere 20something I bought five of the original Arbites models. I sold one on eBay, sold another three on eBay but due to COVIDity couldn't send them to Australia so refunded the dude who bought them and painted up one with citadel contrast paints. That's the story of them, I had decided to paint one and get rid of the rest, but now I have one complete and another three in the loft, so not even enough for a squad. I am gutted I never got hold of the shotgun and bolter armed comrades of this guy as I think it today's Blanchitsu world they have a lot more character than the newer iteration. So anyhow, back to present day. This lad has character enough to be a proper Arbites Judge on some Imperial backwater, even though his one squad of Arbites are way *beefier than he is. He can be used as some sort of Imperial Agent, that gets mentioned a hell of a lot in the Rogue Trader plot generator lists. He could also I suppose wander into my Astra Militarum army as Commissar who wasn't really paying attention at Commissar school during 'uniform class'.

Murdo MacBatter Imperial Agent

41st Millenium Mongols

Back in 1994ish when all the Imperial Guard regiments came out and I was an official GW employee with access to loose lead with free associated plastics, I bought 20 Attilan Roughriders. Ten were undercoated black given a lacklustre urban camo paintjob that was never completed then nothing for a long time. I gave them some more love about 3 years ago and even played a couple of games but I never liked the colours so largely ignored them. Until they got the Dettol bath and were redone in Krablokistani colours. I think it also helped that they are now worth taking in the army as at some point after the Codex they could be given regimental traits. Bingo! Something approaching close combat troops for my Guard! There is even a rumor that Ogryns could even be in my painting plans, and then I will really be on the porcines back! I finally finished these up as a direct result of the Crusade rules, I really like the idea of a fast attack unit with objective secured and a possible +1 movement. Plus I have some plans to convert an old mounted elector count into a roughrider company commander. I am also toying with the idea of making an mounted imperial preacher and commissar.

These guys have some Genestealer bits adorning their bases.

Some Lizardman bits and part of an old Terminator heavy flamer.

I also converted the banner from a Chaos Knight standard, a greenstuff hat makes it looks less like the property of the ruinous powers.

Hermaphrodite Beastman

Another one of those eBay chopped up models was this Beastman, one arm and no sword in the other meant he was fairly harmless. He (??) got a Witch Elf sword and a a collection of bits for his left arm. As far as seeing table time he could be part of an Inquisitor warband or part of the New Mutant Army that may or may not ever get finished.
Horny McUdder

Budget Skull Servitor

Around 1992 I put two legs from some skeleton cavalry on an old beaky marine to make a chaos marine. After some 30 odd years later I decided I couldn't be arsed so I used a lizardmen drum from the cavalry boxed set and Voila! Some sort of skull servitor. Another one for my Inquisitor army.

Black Tree Druid

As a long time fan of Black Tree Designs I have been painting their stuff up for yonks. This model is no exception. Bought when I was a full on dabbler of Warhammer Quest and other fantasy role-playing games I thought this model was a very cool mage type. Then came the great shitting on of the Warhammer Fantasy Universe and I lost interest in it. They mooching through my pile of shame I saw this dude on a square base and saw another use. Way back in the Rogue Trader rulebook there was a scenario where some guy in weird clothing claiming to be a traveler from ye olde futurre was causing a ruckus on some Imperial planet giving the downtrodden ideas above their station and what not. So Imperial forces go in to **'question' said time traveler and his associates. So some non grimdark colouring and a character in a scenario is born. Of course he can easily fit into a lot of those scenarios as a witch or possibly even an Obi Wan Kenobi type recluse are all possible.

"I would like to talk to you about God".

The Balancing Monks Of Bah!

Next are some Shaolin monk models from a company called Iron Mammoth Miniatures. They disappeared so after a bit of investigation I found Rat Trap Productions had them, now they don't it seems so I really don't have a clue where you will find them but after 20 years I finally painted them! It's unlikely they will see much action in a Shaolin type scenario but I have a few other ideas for them. Firstly, they can be part of the entourage of the above Druid/Time Traveler, another possibility is as members of a travelling psychic circus (also an old RT scenario) as acrobats. They also have a gangling look to them and slightly overlong limbs so aliens bent on Imperial mischief is another. My favourite, is as members of The Balancing Monks of Bah! A religion based on austerity, serenity and balancing things on body parts. The central model is performing the human hatstand position which, according to legend a master of Balance can maintain with a fullen laden Chimera tank on the sole of his upturned foot almost indefinitely.

<Insert Kung Fu noises here>

Genestealer Hybrids

What painting update would be complete without a couple of painted GSC models? Not this one, obviously. Two are RT era metal models (one with brand spanking new arms) and a third metal  bloodbowl player converted up. The model in the centre was missing his dagger hand so he got a greenstuff hook hand to help overthrow the Imperium. They are all wearing the colours of the Assembly of D'Keddes the first two will just slot into the rank and file Neophytes. The conversion is meant to be holding a petrol bomb and some sort of remote control (presumably to detonate something) so he could be given a new title such as Senior Insurgent. Of course for the purposs of GW's intellectual property naming-stuff-weirdly-so-no-one-can-rip-them-off-malarkey, I will name him a Flawgus.

Moar Rebellion!

Drukhari Bad Guy

A while back I bought some old metal Drukhari models with the intention of building them into a Ynnari army. Here is the Drahzar, who due to a clerical error on the Commoragh is now obsolete as the master of blades. His new job is as a saucy little Archon. The model itself is very noice and I was happy to use it as Drazhar but then the new hot Drazhar came my way and this lad got relegated.

Stabbing For Khaine!

Eyes Left!

Now Look the other way

Scaly Betty

Just when I haven't played Necromunda in years and Scavvys no longer seem to exist I paint up this lady (or gentleman). As most of my models origin stories begin with "I bought this on eBay with part x missing", this model is no different. Picked up cheap without his harpoon or backpack, some greenstuff and a raid to the bits box made this a passable mutant heavy.
Nothing says far future like a spring loader harpoon gun.

Jurassic Park Wannabee

Another Black Tree model, this time a bipedal lizard with a lazy paintjob. not much else to say about it other than it could be making an appearance in a jungle scenario. I have some more that I put on Lizardman swarm bases that I may or may not regret when the new Warhammer comes out.

RRaaarrgh!

Family Picture

So that's my lot for today, I hope you enjoyed this trip down memory lane or whatever. Presumably within the next ten years I might get to game with them!

Thanks for Reading.

* Presumably they were recruited from Catachan.
** More like kill.
